"What is the law on Gay and Lesbian Marriages?"

The present law known as the "civil Partnership Act 2004", allows same sex couples to have a ceremony similar to a registry office wedding.
The service is performed by a registrar and the couple will have the same rights under the law that a heterosexual couple enjoys. This includes pensions, exemption from inheritance tax and the same rules will apply in cases of divorce.
