MORE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUERSTIONS
How to be a bridesmaid?
I have been asked to be the chief bridesmaid at my best friends wedding, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.
The chef bridesmaid has eight main duties.
The first -is to assist the bride in organising the parts
of the wedding that are down to her and provide the moral
support and calming influence, if they are in short supply
from her fiance.
Secondly- the bridesmaid is the person who the bride will
drag around the shops when she goes to buy that dress.
And when the bride asks; "How does this look? Does
it make me look fat?" What should she say?
Wrap it in kid gloves - sugar coat it. Give
it to her straight. Tell her the truth. Tell her she looks..........
Thirdly- the bridesmaid has the responsibility of organising
the hen night. As the brides best friend, she should know
what sort of things the bride enjoys - what she would tolerate
and what she would definitely frown on. Remember, cost might
be a factor if you are planning air travel or high tea at
the Ritz. Not all of her friends will have understanding bank
managers, or husbands with deep pockets.
Fourthly- the bridesmaid is the person who should make sure
that as far as the bride is concerned, the big day runs smoothly
and calmly. You are her shadow and the person who sorts difficulties
before they become problems. Such as marshalling the little
bridesmaids.
Fifth- the chief bridesmaid has the right to carry the brides
train as she progresses along the aisle (a job often handled
by page boys and girls.)
Sixthly- you hold the bouquet while the couple take their
vows.
Seventh - dance with the dashing bestman.
Eight - catch the bouquet (if still single).
